The final home game of the season at Estadi de la nova Creu Alta means a lot for Sabadell. They host Ponferradina, hoping to get three points to help in their chase for survival. The hosts are in 21st place, with 40 points from their 40 games this season and they take on Ponferradina, who have nothing to play for in the season. Ponferradina have 56 points and are in eighth place in the standings. Sabadell are four points below safety and having the best goal difference among the teams in the bottom five positions should push them to try and do better in the remaining games. A loss here would guarantee Sabadell’s relegation and so they know the weight of this task ahead. Staying up is not in their full control and they are on a run of three straight losses; for survival hopes to stay alive, that bad run has to stop. They also need to improve defensively going to this game after conceding twice in each of the last three matches. They have three clean sheets only in their last 13 matches. Sabadell did beat promotion chasing Rayo Vallecano earlier but that game came at a cost, as Iosu Ozkoidi was sent off and they went on a three-match winless run. Ozkoidi did score on returning from suspension but it was an own goal. Nine draws in the last 12 home matches will however breed some hope they can get something from this game.

After the 4-1 loss to Espanyol in the last game, Ponferradina saw their hopes to play in the promotion playoffs go up in smoke. They no longer have anything much than pride to play for. That loss was the third in their last four matches and it will not reflect so well on them that their only wins in the last five matches have come against sides in the relegation zone – Castellon and Lugo. Those were also the only games in the last six that they’ve kept clean sheets, while they’ve failed to score in three of their last seven matches. In terms of away performances, Ponferradina have one win and one clean sheet only in the last nine matches. They however have four draws in the last seven away matches.
