Russia certainly haven't had an easy time in this group but a 2-1 win in Moldova at least clinched a play-off place. That happened because at the same time Montenegro were losing 3-2 at home to the runaway winners of this group Austria. That ended their hopes of getting in the top three so what impact will that have on this game? Russia go into their final match clinging onto second place two points clear of Sweden. Now the Swedes are home to Moldova in their final fixture and although they managed a draw in Russia, chances are Sweden will win that game meaning Russia need to beat Montenegro to automatically qualify. Russia's home form in this group hasn't been spectacular with a loss to Austria, that disappointing draw with Moldova and wins over Sweden and Leichtenstein. Montenegro won in Moldova but could only draw in Liechtenstein and lost in Austria and Sweden. Their hearts must have been broken on Friday as they led Austria 2-1 with nine minutes to go only to lose to a 92nd minute winner. Everything could have been so different if racial problems hadn't caused Montenegro's home game to be abandoned and awarded 3-0 to Russia. The Russians have improved in recent months though with three straight wins and can make it four and confirm their place in France next year.
