Roma will be aiming to maintain their 100% record in the Europa League when they play host to Servette on Thursday evening. The hosts are currently second in Group G, while the visitors are at the bottom of the standings. Roma came agonizingly close to winning this competition last season but were beaten in the final by Sevilla on penalties. They will be determined to go one better this term and got their Europa League campaign started with a 2-1 win over Sheriff in week one of the competition. Since then, though, their performances have been inconsistent, with a draw against Torino followed by a loss to Genoa. They did win their weekend's fixture 2-0 over Frosinone, but that was only their second league win of the season after seven matches. During that time, Roma have also drawn two and lost three. Meanwhile, Servette had an excellent 2022-23 season, where they secured a second-place finish in the Swiss Super League for the first time in five seasons. However, since bowing out of Champions League qualifiers, things have not gone well for the visitors. In league terms, The Maroons are currently in eighth place after nine matches. They have recorded just ten points so far and have won just two of their league matches to date. One of those wins came last weekend when they beat Lausanne-Sport 2-1, but that brought an end to a three-match winless run. Unfortunately, their Europa League also began poorly as they were beaten 2-0 by Slavia Prague at home a fortnight ago. Notably, Servette have been poor in defense, shipping 15 goals in the league already this season while scoring 12. The visitors are the biggest outsiders in this gameweek.
