The race for the Champions League qualification spots is bubbling to a boil in the Serie A, and in arguably the match of the weekend, we will see Roma take on Inter Milan at Stadio Olimpico on Saturday evening. With just six points separating Lazio in second place and Roma in seventh, it’s still anybody’s ball game, and we could see a fair amount of chopping and changing in the current order over the last five game weeks. Inter Milan are currently in fourth place with 60 points after 33 matches, just two points above Atalanta, AC Milan, and Roma, who are all tied with 58 points each. Following a poor run of league results last month, Inter  Milan have gotten back to winning ways in recent times, winning their last three matches, which included a massive 6-0 triumph over Hellas Verona in midweek. However, their away record this season has been underwhelming, with seven wins, three draws, and six losses in their 16 matches on the road. It’s going to be a tough few weeks for Inter with Champions League action and a few tricky fixtures to come before the end of the league season. It could end up being an incredible season for them, but they will need to dig deep, starting with a solid performance in this one 

Meanwhile, Roma have seen themselves drop out of the Champions League qualification spots owing to points dropped in the last couple of weeks. The hosts have drawn their last two league matches, both by a 1-1 scoreline to AC Milan and last week to Monza, which sets them in seventh place in Serie A, with 58 points, 12 points ahead of Fiorentina who may still have a say in the Europa League qualification race if they are able to defeat Inter Milan in the Coppa Italia final at the end of the month. Over their last six matches, Roma have won three, drawn two, and lost one, while at home, they have managed a record of 10 wins, two draws, and four losses in 16 matches. The last time these sides met, Roma took the points, winning 2-1 away from home, and a repeat of that outcome could see them move back into the top four if a couple of other results go their way. Like their opponents, Roma have a busy schedule over the upcoming weeks, and a win here could give them the motivation they need to finish the season with a flurry.
