Roma will look to keep the pressure on the sides above them when they play host to Cagliari in Serie A on Monday night. The hosts are currently in fifth place in the league standings, while the visitors are 18th. Now under the guidance of Daniele De Rossi Roma have found renewed hopes of finishing in the top four this season. They are on 35 points after 22 matches and trail fourth-placed Atalanta by a single point, though they have played a game more. Since the arrival of the new boss, I Giallorossi have won back-to-back league matches, both by a scoreline of 2-1, first against Verona and then away to Salernitana in midweek. Despite their ups and downs this season, Roma have maintained an excellent home record and enter this match unbeaten in their last nine league games at Stadio Olimpico dating back to September 1. During that time, they recorded seven wins and just two losses. Roma won the reverse fixture with a commanding 4-1 scoreline back in October and are the clear favourites in this tie. 

Meanwhile,  after earning promotion back to the top flight last season, Cagliari are at risk of heading straight back down unless they can find some form in the second half of the campaign. They have posted 18 points in 22 league games and are just six points above bottom club Salernitana. However, with the relegation scrap being red hot, a point from this match could be enough to see them move out of the drop zone this weekend. Managing to win this match, though, will be a very difficult task for the visitors are they come into it following consecutive defeats in their last two matches. The first was a 3-1 loss to Frosinone, followed by a 2-1 defeat against Torino in midweek. The Islanders have also not won a single away game this season and are on a three-match losing streak against this opponent dating back to October 2021.
