Korea Republic vs Peru Prediction & Betting Tips - International Friendlies
by Kennedy Kechula in Football Predictions
South Korea will on Friday play host to Peru in an international friendly match. The last time these two nations met was back in 2013 with the outcome being a 0-0 draw. Friday’s match will be the second time that Korea is hosting Peru for a test match. Korea come to this match without a win in their last three matches. All three fixtures have been against South American opposition. They have hosted the last two matches and lost 2-1 to Uruguay after a 2-2 draw with Colombia. The Taegeuk Warriors are using these matches to help prepare for next year’s Asia Cup. Captain Heung-min Son is likely to miss this match as he recovers from a hernia operation. Serie A defender of the season Kim Min-jae of Napoli will miss the match as well as next week’s test match against El Salvador. He is set to report for mandatory military service.
Peru have also lined up two build-up matches this month and after playing South Korea will next travel to play Japan. Juan Reynoso’s charges are using both matches to prepare for the start of the CONMEBOL 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in September. Peru also went without a win in the last international window in March. After losing 2-0 away to Germany they drew 0-0 with Morocco last time out. They will see this as an opportunity to get back their scoring touch as Korea have been leaky in defence. Veteran striker Paolo Guerrero has been given his first call-up since 2021 to help solve the team’s goal-scoring woes. Marcos Lopez of Feyenoord, Luis Abram of Atalanta United and Wilder Cartagena of Orlando City are some of the players in the squad.
