Korea Republic vs Ghana Prediction & Betting Tips - World Cup

by Daniel Ngulu | in World Cup Predictions

Korea Republic gave a decent show in their opening game at the 2022 World Cup against Uruguay in Group H and they will hope to go one better when they take on African giants Ghana on Match Day 2 of the competition. This match will be staged on Monday 28th November at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan. Heading into this game, Ghana are bottom of the group without a point following their loss to Portugal to open their World Cup campaign while Korea have a point after drawing 0-0 with Uruguay. A win for Korea in this game will complicate Ghana’s chances and it means the West Africans will have to go for at least a draw.

Korea Republic - Ghana: Form Analysis

Both these nations come into this game with two wins in their last five matches but Korea Republic will come in as favorites having done slightly better recently. The Asian nation hasn’t suffered a loss in the last four matches but have failed to score in two of the last five matches. Korea have conceded two or more goals in two of their last five matches but they have three straight clean sheets heading into this game though three of their last five matches have ended in under 2.5 goals. They have scored more than a goal in just one of their last five matches. Singling out competitive action, Korea have done well, losing just one and winning six of the last 10 matches. They have seven clean sheets in 10 competitive matches and eight of the 10 games have produced under 2.5 goals. They will however need a lot of improvement on their World Cup record, having managed just a win in their last 10 World Cup matches. Four of their last five World Cup matches have produced under 2.5 goals and Korea will want to build on the fact that their last two World Cup matches have ended in clean sheets. Ghana will look at this game with a lot of optimism; this is going to be their fifth meeting with Korea and they’ve won three of the earlier four, though all were friendly matches. The loss to Portugal in their opening game of the 2022 World Cup ended a run of two straight wins and they come into this game having kept three clean sheets in the last five matches. Three of their last five matches have ended in under 2.5 goals while they’ve failed to score in two of their last five matches. In each of their last two matches, Ghana have scored twice but in two of their last four, they’ve conceded three in each. They don’t take a very strong run to this game in competitive action, with just two wins in the last 10. Ghana have kept three clean sheets only in the last 10 competitive matches and seven of their last 10 have ended in under 2.5 goals. They missed the 2018 World Cup but in their last five World Cup matches, Ghana are winless. After the Portugal loss, they conceded two or more goals in four straight World Cup matches but scored in six straight.

Korea Republic & Ghana Squad Analysis

Four of Ghana’s starting players in the last match got booked and are in danger of missing the final group game. This will worry coach Otto Addo, and especially the fact that the list includes skipper Andre Ayew. Inaki Williams, Mohamed Kudus and Alidu Seidu are the others at risk. Mohamed Kudus was impressive in the opening game and there was understandable uproar when he was substituted as Ghana chased the game. If fit, he will be a sure starter, same as Andre Ayew, who scored Ghana’s first goal. Ayew and Seidu trained separately on Friday but there’s no communication that they would be unavailable. Thomas Partey went through the whole game and he will be available to inspire Ghana here; a lot will be expected of him. As for South Korea, a lot will be expected from Son Heung-Min, who just before this tournament was a doubt. He played with a facial guard and after coming out unscathed, he will be expected to lead the team out here again. Hwang Hee-Chan will however remain a doubt going into this game as he is dealing with a tight hamstring.

These two nations will be fighting for the biggest prize – three points. That will be a jackpot for whoever gets them but from their recent performances, especially the attacks, this may be a tall order. Most games involving these teams have produced under 2.5 goals lately – three of five for Korea and same for Ghana. This makes under 2.5 goals a good pick.
