Rennes host Toulouse at the Roazhon Park, in a significant showdown for Ligue 1’s ultimate round of fixtures before the Qatar World Cup break. Rennes drew with Lille on Sunday evening, with their famed unbeaten streak remaining intact for one more matchup. Specifically, Rennes are now unbeaten in sixteen games in all competitions, managing to win ten of those. The likes of Terrier, Guiri and Kalimuendo have created a fearsome attack in Bretagne, with Rennes boasting the league’s second best attack, only behind giants PSG. The hosts have also built an impressive record when welcoming Toulouse, against whom they have prevailed in four of their last five home meetings. 

If one takes into account that we are talking about a newly promoted side, Toulouse have performed admirably so far. Sitting in twelfth place ahead of this one, they look well-prepared to avoid the drop in this year’s challenging Ligue 1 season (four teams get relegated at the end), that is if of course they do not experience a drop down in standards post-World Cup. Their form is mixed however, going into this encounter. Toulouse have lost their last two games against Lens and Monaco, yet have also been unbeaten in the five before those. Away form has been another significant shortcoming, with the visitors failing to win in their last five on the road.
