Rennes vs Marseille Prediction & Betting Tips - Ligue 1

Rennes continue their bid to qualify for the 2022/23 Champions League. They are fifth in the table and host Marseille who are second. Rennes have to bounce back from the 2-1 loss at Nantes on Wednesday evening. That caused them to drop out of the top four and are now a point behind Nice with two games remaining. Fourth place takes teams into the Europa League but for the Champions League a top three finish is required. That's held by Monaco who are three points ahead of Rennes but have an inferior goal difference.  It could have been a totally different situation as Rennes led 1-0 against Nantes, while Nice were 2-0 down to St Etienne before winning 4-2. The defeat on Wednesday was the third that Rennes have suffered in their last five league games. After this tough game against Marseille, they finish the season with a trip to 10th placed Lille who also aren't in the best of form. Rennes have won seven of their last eight home league games with 29 goals scored in those matches. They do not have a good home record against Marseille thouh with just one win in the last four. The reverse fixture was played in September with Marseille winning 2-0.

Marseille probably only need a draw here to confirm their place in the Champions League. They are five points clear of fifth and six ahead of Rennes. They have won three of their last four league games, the other being a loss to Lyon. Their most recent Ligue 1 fixture was a comfortable 3-0 win at struggling Lorient. That was their 11th away league victory of the season. Marseille have the best away record in all of Ligue 1 and can inflict another defeat on Rennes. A side bet on over 2.5 goals is also a likely winner..
