Rennes are getting into the right shape as the season progresses and as they prepare to host Lille on Sunday, the target is to collect three more points. The two sides are serious Champions league contenders; Rennes are fifth with 36 points while Lille are second with 42. Rennes have packed up a seven-game unbeaten run, with five wins therein, marking a big improvement after earlier going winless in eight straight matches. They have also improved in attack, scoring two or more in four of the last six matches. Rennes’ last seven matches have produced four clean sheets, but none of these has come in the last two. Their home form is also improving, the team having registered a three-game unbeaten run, with two wins therein. They have scored five goals but conceded three in the last five home matches.

Lille on the other hand, carry to this game the second best defensive performance so far in the league. They have conceded 15 goals. A win here could take them top of the league as they are only second on goal difference. Winning the league title doesn’t seem like a distant dream this season and such tough matches should prove Lille’s capabilities. They have failed to score in just one of their 26 matches this season and new signing Burak Yilmaz has had a big say on that. The Turkish forward has settled fast in France and has nine goals in Ligue 1 already. In the last four league matches he has scored three goals. Lille are unbeaten in the last four away league games, and have won each of the last three. They have scored two or more in three of their last five away league games and in the nine away league matches this season, they have just one loss.
