Rennes face Brest in a Ligue One clash between the teams ranked seventh and third in the division. Neither side comes into the game in particularly good form. Rennes did end a run of three straight defeats with a 3-0 away win over Nantes in their last game. All three of those goals came due to a much better second-half display in that game. Rennes are ranked sixth in terms of home performances in Ligue One, but 12th on the road, so it is clear where their issues have been this season. They have scored 29 goals at home, the second most of all teams in the league, behind leaders Paris St.Germain on 34. Away from home, that number dwindles to just 12, the joint-second fewest in the division. 

Third-placed Brest have enjoyed an incredible season and the unthinkable dream of Champions League football beckons. Eric Roy has coached the team superbly well, relying on a usually rock-solid defence to nullify other team’s attacking threat. They did top the table at one point, but now lie five points adrift of second-placed Monaco and just a point ahead of Lille in fourth. Two defeats in their last two games, admittedly to in-form Lyon and Monaco, have added further pressure to these final four games of the season. With the third-best away record in Ligue One, they will feel that they can go to Roazhon Park and come away with something from this crucial clash.
