Reims vs Nantes Prediction & Betting Tips - Ligue 1

Reims and Nantes will hope to put their French Cup disappointments to the side as they shift focus to Ligue 1. The two face off next, with sixth placed Reims hosting 13th placed Nantes. Reims’ target will be to strengthen their hold of a European slot, and a win could haul them to the Europa League places. Coming from elimination from the French Cup will not offer much in way of motivation for Reims though. It will be even more concerning that they failed to beat a third tier side, Sochaux in that game. Emmanuel Agbadou’s brace saw the tie end 2-2 after 90 minutes and head to penalties, after which Reims were beaten. The silver lining for Reims coming into this game will be their scoring run. They’ve scored in each of their last four matches, and at least twice in the last three games. Reims have only failed to score twice in their last 10 matches and have three clean sheets only in that run. In five of their last eight matches, both teams managed to score.

Nantes, like Reims will also be licking wounds after elimination from the French Cup by a lower league side. Playing at home, they suffered a 1-0 loss at the hands of Ligue 2 side Laval. Recently, they rose to the occasion recently to beat second placed Nice. However, it remains a concern that Nantes’ only win in six matches was against Ligue 2 side Pau in the French Cup. They’ve lost five of their last six matches and that run includes four straight losses in Ligue 1. This bad run in Ligue 1 extends to their away matches as well, with Nantes winning just two of their last 15 away league games. That run obviously stretches to last season. In their eight away league games this season, Nantes have suffered six defeats. Their shaky form against Reims will not help either, having won just once in the last seven meetings.
