Real Sociedad started their La Liga campaign with a 1-1 draw away to Real Valladolid and they will have a heavier task on Match Day 2 when they host champions Real Madrid. The visitors had no game on the opening weekend and hope to start their title defence on a winning note. Sociedad had to fight back from a goal down to collect a point at Valladolid, making it four unbeaten league matches, but each of the last three ended in a draw. They have one clean sheet in 14 league matches and they know going up against the second-best scoring side last season will call for more. However, the hosts will take courage from the fact that they have failed to score in just four of their last 15 league matches. They won nine of their 19 home matches last season and with the target this season being to finish in the Champions League places, they will want to try harder when playing in San Sebastiàn. Real Sociedad have three wins in five matches against Real Madrid and they will feel they can register their first win in this game. They have scored in each of their last seven meetings and eight of the last nine matches between them have ended in over 2.5 goals.

Madrid have no clean sheet in their last four matches but have scored two or more in four of the last five matches. The Spanish giants have actually scored in each of their last 15 matches as they head to this one. In their race to the title last season, Real Madrid went on an 11-match unbeaten run, winning 10 of those and will be hoping to extend that here. With four wins and a draw in their last five away matches, they will troop here as favorites.
