Dutch side AZ Alkmaar has injected some stability in its recent matches after a slow start and will be looking to extend the same in the tour of Spain to face Real Sociedad in Group F of the Europa League. Hosts Sociedad go to this game with three points from their opening two group matches and are placed third, while AZ are top of the group with six points from their opening wins. Sociedad won their opening game against Rijeka but lost 1-0 to Napoli in the second and backed by a good recent run, will be hoping to get one over the group leaders. In the last six matches, Real Sociedad have managed five wins, and are deservedly top of La Liga after eight rounds of matches. This is the form they want to bring to Europe and by all measures, they have been good both in defence and attack so far. The team has not conceded more than a goal in their 10 matches so far, while it has kept five clean sheets. In their last match, they completely dominated Celta Vigo, and won 4-1, with star man Mikel Oyarzabal scoring his fourth goal in five matches. Sociedad suffered a loss in their last home match, going down 1-0 to Napoli, to end a run of two straight home wins and they will hope they can return to winning ways in this clash.

AZ on the other hand, are enjoying a good run after a slow start to the season. They were eliminated from the Champions League at the qualification rounds and after a run of five matches without a win, they now have three wins in the last four matches. AZ’s first win after their elimination from the Champions League was against Napoli in this group, and they went on to boost the 1-0 win with a 4-1 win over Rijeka on match Day 2. They will be fired up going to this game after the 3-0 win over RKC Waalwijk in Eredivisie. They are not enjoying as good a run at home as Sociedad are in Spain. Though they are one of the two remaining unbeaten sides in Eredivisie, they have just one win to show from their opening six matches and have the worst defence record among the top 10 teams. In their 10 matches so far this season, AZ have just two clean sheets.
