The regular MLS season is coming to a close and this is a vital game for Real Salt Lake  who are in the final play-off position but only a point clear of LA Galaxy and three clear of Vancouver Whitecaps who have a game in hand. Their play-off hopes have been hit by a run of only no wins in their last four matches. All a bit of a suprise because they had won two straight games scoring six in each of them, including a 6-2 home win over LA Galaxy. Since then though they have just two points from four league games and their most recent match saw them level 1-1 with Portland Timbers (who they play in their final match) with 20 minutes to go but going down to a 4-1 home loss. So which team will turn up for this game? The one that has recorded nine home league wins this season or the one that's been struggling of late? 

The hopes of New England Revolution making the play-offs could be over by the time this game begins. A point for DC United in their match the night before will mean New England can't finish in the top six of the Eastern Conference. They are currently ninth,six points adrift of the play-offs and with an inferior goal difference. Current form has seen them earn two wins in their last 15 league games. They won their last game but that was at home to bottom of the table Orlando City. On their travels, New England have one win in their last 14 with only two away victories in the MLS all season. A form table for the last 15 league games has them one from bottom and the tip here is for Salt Lake City to get that vital home win.
