For a long while, no team had won the Champions League twice in a row but last season's triumph gave Real Madrid their third straight win in this competition. Now they bid for a four-timer and that hasn't happened since Real won the European Cup for the fourth straight year back in 1959. Roma reached the last four last season losing to Liverpool but it was their home form that got them that far. Their last four away games in the Champions League have all ended in defeats and they conceded 13 goals in those four matches. Roma have one win in their last 16 away Champions League games. In Serie A this season Roma have only won one of their opening four games and at the weekend only drew 2-2 with bottom of the table Chievo after leading 2-0. Real Madrid can open their Champions League campaign with a home win and be leading at both half and full time.
