Chelsea will hope to rise up and dust themselves off in time for the visit of Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter finals. Chelsea are coming from a shock 4-1 defeat to Brentford and after seeing the end of a six-game winning run they will be out to seek a first leg advantage. They have two clean sheets in their last five matches and three of the five matches have produced over 2.5 goals. Both sides have scored in three of Chelsea’s last five matches but they will be banking more on their home form in the Champions League, having managed five straight clean sheets and scored two or more goals in four of the five matches. This is not the first meeting with Real Madrid in recent times. In the run up to winning the title last season, Chelsea beat Real 2-0 in the return leg after a 1-1 draw earlier. 

Real Madrid have Karim Benzema back after missing the El Clasico and he announced his return with two goals as Real Madrid thumped Celta Vigo 2-1 away from home. The El Clasico defeat is now forgotten but Benzema’s absence in that game showed just how much the Frenchman means to the team. In Real Madrid’s last four matches he has scored eight goals and in four of the last five matches, the Spanish team has scored two or more. Each of their last five matches has produced over 2.5 goals. Away from home in the Champions League, Real Madrid have two losses; one of them was against Chelsea but more recently, they fell 1-0 to PSG. They however have only three clean sheets in their last five away matches in the Champions League.
