Real Madrid vs Barcelona Prediction & Betting Tips - LaLiga
by Valeria Di Meglio | in LaLiga Predictions
The biggest game in Spain is here, and it comes with a big impact on the La Liga title race as Real Madrid play host to Barcelona in the El Clasico, at Alfredo di Stefano Stadium. Two points separate these two giants; hosts Real have 63 points in third place and Barcelona have 65, in second place. Real Madrid are coming from an impressive win over Liverpool in the Champions League but as expected their celebrations were short as preparations for this key game check in. They are unbeaten in 12 matches, 10 of them wins, and will be looking to carry this form to the game. Marco Asensio and Karim Benzema will be the marked men in the Real front, having jointly scored 10 of the team’s 13 goals in the last five matches. The hosts have one clean sheet in the last five matches and with their first choice center back pairing of Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane out of this game, that is an area to improve on. With a nine-game unbeaten run in the league, seven being wins, Real will be confident of sealing a double over Barcelona after the 3-1 win in Catalunya. Real have scored two goals or more in six of their last 10 league matches and go here unbeaten in their last five home league matches, with three clean sheets and having scored twice in four of the five. At home, Real have 10 wins in their 14 league matches this season but three of their four losses in the campaign have come at home. They’ve managed 31 out of a possible 42 points in home matches. Real Madrid have beaten Barca in the last two Clasicos and are unbeaten in three. A curious stat though is that matches between these two giants normally explode in the second half, with most goals scored then.
Barcelona had no Champions League engagements in midweek thus had more time to prepare for this game and the league’s lead scorers will want to leave a mark here. With league leaders Atletico Madrid playing a day later, Barcelona, who have had it tough in the last two seasons will be eyeing top spot, as they are just a point below. They have the best form in the league at the moment, unbeaten in 19 and with six straight wins. In their last game Ousmane Dembele’s last minute goal secured the points and after a difficult start to the campaign the Catalans now look like a good team. Dembele and Lionel Messi will be the men to watch on this Barca side, going by their recent form; the two have scored eight goals in the team’s last five matches. Barcelona have nine straight away wins in the league and having already lost to Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid they may look at this as the perfect time to avenge. Gerrard Pique, Ansu Fati, and Phillippe Coutinho are confirmed absentees for this game on the Barcelona side as they recover from injuries. Barcelona have won 10 of 14 away matches in the league, losing three, and securing 31 of the available 42 points.

Our Real Madrid vs Barcelona Prediction
Neither of these teams will be out of the title race with a loss but the chance to strike a direct opponent is always great for confidence and at this time of the season it will matter more in the final run in. In the last seven meetings between these two, 12 of the 18 goals scored have come in the second half. In four of the last five meetings, the teams were tied at half time. Both teams carry good form to this clash and separating them will be tough but going by their recent forms, we expect an explosive second half so a draw at half time can pass here.
