Reading are three points clear at the top of the Championship and host 11th placed Stoke City. However, the league leaders come into this game having lost their last two matches. What a difference a week can make, you certainly wouldn't haven't been seeing odds of nearly 3.0 on Reading to win this match a week ago. Their unbeaten record was lost last Friday when going down 3-2 at Coventry City. Then on Wednesday, the Royals lost 3-0 at home to Preston North End. The only good bit of news they have had this week is that the sides in second and third were held to draws in midweek. Before these two losses, Reading had won seven of their first eight league games. A return to that kind of form is their target now. Home form had seen them win their first four games, before the poor performance against Preston.
Stoke City are doing better than they did last season when doing well to avoid relegation. They are in 11th but that's only seven points behind their opponents. Their form isn't that great going into this game with two of their last three league matches being lost. Both of those defeats were on their travels, losing 2-0 at Swansea City (currently second in the table) and 3-2 at Watford in their most recent match. They led 1-0 at Watford but ended up losing to a 92nd minute goal. Overall this season, Stoke have won two away league games with wins at Preston and Luton, both with clean sheets. This is an awkward game to predict, will both teams continue their poor form or get back on track? A bet on a win for either side is difficult in the current circumstances.
