Strasbourg will continue with their quest to rise towards the mid-table in Ligue 1 when they host champions PSG. A 3-2 win over Bordeaux in the last match moved them to 36 points in 13th place while PSG dropped to second with 60 points after their loss to Lille. Strasbourg are seven points above the relegation region but with 21 points still to play for they will be confident of staying up. They’ll however need to solve the defensive mishaps seen in the Bordeaux game, having led 3-0 at some point, but going to the break at 3-2. They did have a good second half but such defending would be dealt with ruthlessly by PSG. The hosts head to this game with just two clean sheets in the last 12 matches across all competitions and have only managed three wins in their last 11 league matches. They can be tricky opponents when facing the big teams, as seen in their recent draw with Lille and win over Monaco. However, PSG whacked them 4-0 in December and the hosts will know this is a tougher game than the other two. That loss was one of four times in the last 15 league matches that Strasbourg have conceded more than one goal. They head here with a poor run in the league at home, having won once in the last five and keeping two clean sheets. In the long run, they haven’t done better, with just four wins in the 15 home league matches, a 27% winning rate at home, and they’ve managed only 16 out of the available 45 points in home matches.

PSG have had stop-starts in their campaign this season, and will be hoping to recover from their loss to Lille last time out in the league. They are coming from a good win in the Champions League, having beaten Bayern Munich 3-2 in Germany and won’t want a repeat of the last time they resumed league action after an away win at Barcelona. They were brought down to earth then by a 2-0 defeat to Monaco. It hasn’t been an easy season in Ligue 1 for PSG, and eight losses so far says it all. Their poor run in the league has kept all teams in top four in the title race. The only time PSG felt so much pressure in trying to win the Ligue 1 title was in 2016/17, when they were dethroned by Monaco and even then, they lost just thrice. Save for the extraordinary 2019/20 season, PSG won’t be able to match the points tally registered in a full season in their last six campaigns. Manager Mauricio Pochettino will have a selection headache as well for this game, with Neymar suspended, skipper Marquinhos injured and midfielder Marco Veratti in isolation. However, he can still bank on striker Kylian Mbappe’s brilliance after his two goals in Munich took his tally to six goals in four matches. It is in defence that PSG will be worried, having kept only one clean sheet in the last five matches, and conceding seven. They’ve lost two of their last three league matches but have been great away from home in the league, with four straight wins. In their 15 away league matches this season, PSG have 10 wins and managed 32 points out of a possible 45.
