Strasbourg vs PSG Prediction & Betting Tips - Ligue 1

Sandwiched in between two huge cup games, Paris Saint-Germain travel to Strasbourg for Ligue 1 action this weekend. The Parisian giants are top of the table with a 13-point lead over their nearest rivals, Marseille. Still having time to challenge for European places or get caught up in a relegation battle, Strasbourg are presently doing neither. Midtable in tenth place, they are eight points off a Europa League spot and 11 above the trap door area. They are without a win in three matches and it would be surprising to see that run ending against PSG, but their record against the champions isn't, relatively speaking, terrible. They have avoided defeat in two of their last four outings with PSG and have not conceded more than two goals in any of those four matches. Falling right before PSG's crucial Champions League game with Borussia Dortmund, there's every chance a second-string side will take the field. Second-string for PSG is still Cavani, Herrera and Draxler, but the last time they all played PSG drew 4-4 at Amiens.

A four-goal spree seems unlikely from a Strasbourg team with one goal in three games but it was a total anomaly for Amiens too. We doubt that Thomas Tuchel will make it as easy for these underdogs as he did Amiens so we're going to rule a home thumping out. In fact, we think a shored-up PSG defence will keep Strasbourg's best forwards out. Having scored in all of their away matches in Ligue 1, it's likely that PSG will find the net but we don't expect many goals in this breather match. Back under 2.5 goals.
