Valencia will visit Rayo Vallecano for their next La Liga game in the 17th round of matches in the campaign. There isn’t much to separate these two sides in the league standings, both on 20 points, with Valencia 10th and Rayo 11th. Hosts Rayo aren’t in their best shape coming into this game. Their 1-0 loss at the hands of Osasuna left them winless in seven La Liga matches. They did recently beat Yeclano in the Copa del Rey but the last time Rayo posted a league win was in October. The win over Las Palmas remains their only one in the league over the last 12 La Liga games. Eight of the said 12 matches ended in draws though. Their last two league matches at home also ended in draws, against Barcelona and Celta Vigo. In the most recent home game, Rayo drew 0-0 with Celta Vigo. It was the first time they failed to score at home in the league in seven matches.

Valencia haven't had a great run coming into this game either. Their only win inside the last six matches was away to Arosa in the Copa del Rey. A 1-1 draw with Barcelona in the last game is however a welcome outcome for Valencia. Hugo Guillamon scored the 70th minute equalizer to save Valencia from the jaws of defeat. Having last won a league game at the start of November, Valencia will feel the need to hit top form again here. Three defeats inside the last five league matches points to a team struggling for confidence. In their last 10 matches, they have two wins only. However, Valencia have drawn four of their last nine matches, a run they will feel the need to improve on. In their last five meetings with Rayo, Valencia failed to win any, losing twice.
