Rapid Vienna began the season in the Champions League. Not for that long though, as they were beaten 2-1 away at Gent in the third qualifying round. This is their first time in the Europa League since the 2018/19 season, when losing in the last 32 to Inter Milan. The home loss to the Italian side is their only defeat in Austria in the last nine Europa League matches. Only one of their last nine away Europa League games has been won, so home form is going to be important for the Austrians. With the other two clubs in the group being Molde and Dundalk, Rapid Vienna and Arsenal will both fancy their chances of making it into the knock-out stages. Rapid are second in the Austrian Bundesliga with ten points from their four games. 

Arsenal only made it into the Europa League by winning the FA Cup in August. This is their fourth consecutive season in this competition and could again be their best chance of getting back into the Champions League. The Gunners reached the semi-finals in 2018 and lost to Chelsea in the 2019 final. Last season was a disappointing one though, losing to Olympiakos in the last 32 despite winning the away leg. This season has seen them win the Community Shield and get to the quarter finals of the EFL Cup. In the Premier League, they began with three wins before losing away at both Liverpool and Manchester City. Away form is a worry for the Gunners in the Premier League but in this competition, it is much better. The only away loss in their last seven games in the Europa League has been that loss to Chelsea in the 2019 final. They will of course play a less than full strength line-up.and would most likely to be happy to come away from this game with a draw.
