It has been a big week for Glasgow Rangers and after advancing in the Champions League, they shift attention to the Premiership, with a home game against St. Johnstone. Rangers have started the league well and going into this game they have six points from two matches. They are one of the only two that have a perfect record after two games and will be hoping to win and go above Celtic. Right before this game, Rangers beat Union Saint-Gilloise 3-0 in the Champions League qualifiers, for their third win in four matches so far this season. Rangers have scored two or more goals in three of their four matches so far this season, and failed to score completely in one. They have just one loss in 39 league games played at home.
St. Johnstone have had a mixed run so far in the season. They go into this game placed sixth on three points. They opened their league campaign with a 1-0 loss to Hibernian but recovered to win the second game 2-1 away to Motherwell. Their 1-0 win over Ayr United in the League Cup remains their only clean sheet in the last five matches while the loss to Hibernian was the only time in five games that they failed to score in that run. Their run in the league isn’t the best however, and especially when playing away from home. St. Johnstone have one win in nine away league matches and in the last five they failed to score in two. They also don’t have a clan sheet in five straight away league games.
