Stability in the season remainder will be the target for QPR and Birmingham City when the two meet in the Championship on Friday. Hosts QPR are a point above the relegation zone while Birmingham are only above it on goal difference. The two sides’ placing in the standings makes this a key game for either side, as far as survival is concerned. Both teams are eyeing returns to winning ways but QPR will be more confident coming here. They have bagged eight points from their last five matches but failure to score in the last two games is a concern. The hosts have no win in their last three matches, a run that has slowed their survival race significantly. A 0-0 draw away to Sunderland last time out can be viewed as a positive, after their 2-0 loss to Middlesbrough earlier. Standing on 40 points, they’ll know a loss here could end in the team dropping into the relegation region. While that will be a concern in their preparations for this game, QPR will also be wary of their home form. They have just two wins in 11 home matches in all competitions.

Like QPR, Birmingham will also be looking to bounce back. Theirs is a poorer run though, having failed to win any of their last six matches, five of them defeats. A slightly superior goal difference places them outside the relegation zone, after posting 39 points thus far. Birmingham have avoided defeat in just three of their last 11 matches. From a possible 30 points in their last 10 matches, they’ve managed just seven. This will therefore be a tough outing for them but they can bank on their form against QPR. In the last three meetings with QPR, Birmingham City are unbeaten. Their reverse fixture this season ended in a 0-0 draw but Birmingham had won their earlier two meetings. Four defeats in their last five away league games will however put a dent on their confidence coming here. Birmingham have just a point from their last five away league matches, and failed to score in three.
