Two continental champions face off in the second semi final of the first edition of the FIFA World Cup. African champions Algeria will take on Asian champions Qatar in a game that promises fireworks if their performances in this competition are anything to go by. Qatar are unbeaten in their four matches at this competition and they have managed three clean sheets in the four. They’ve scored 11 goals while conceding just one – in the 2-1 win over Oman. In their quarter final game, they had the least possession against UAE, but they were clinical with the chances that came their way, and won 5-0. That was their third straight game that ended in over 2.5 goals.

Algeria eliminated tournament favorites Morocco, and will be eyeing the hosts’ scalp here. Their last two matches have been scrappy, both ending in draws. In their last game, they came from behind twice to play to a 2-2 draw with Morocco and they won it 5-4 on post match penalties. The African champs are missing a number of key players and it has been visible in their matches at this competition. Though they still have quality players here, in this game they have to deal with a different kind of challenge, taking on the hosts. Meanwhile, Yacine Titraoui is still suspended and he will hope they make it to the final for him to feature again. Algeria have scored two times or more in three of their four matches at this competition and two of those four have produced over 2.5 goals.
