Rennes’ only chance of silverware this season will see them take a stern test away to PSG in the French Cup semifinals. The two sides had contrasting outings in Ligue 1 over the weekend but all focus here will be on advancing to the final. Hosts PSG were 2-0 winners away to Marseille, marshalling through even with a man down. Brazilian defender Beraldo was sent off in the 40th minute of the game but goals from Vitinha and Gonçalo Ramos did the job. With their 12-point lead in Ligue 1 intact, PSG’s quest for a treble is well on course. While they are favorites coming into this game, PSG will be wary of Rennes’ bogey status over them. PSG have suffered three losses in their last six matches against Rennes, while winning just two in their last seven meetings. Save for their win on penalties against Marseille, Rennes haven't met Ligue 1 opposition in the competition this season. This will therefore be their toughest test. They earned their place here with a 3-1 away win at Le Puy Foot. As they face PSG for the third time this season, they’ll be hoping for a first win. The additional stake to this game is that winning this competition will earn them a place in Europe. It will, however worry Rennes that in their last five away matches, they have managed just one win.
