It has been unprecedented scenes in Paris these last few weeks as their form has fell off a cliff with them losing four of their last five games. They are really crawling over the line with an evident atmosphere around the club at the moment with the manager Thomas Tuchel arguing with the board while Neymar has been mouthing off about some of the squad’s younger players. PSG were leading twice but still managed to lose 3-2 to Montpellier in midweek as la Paillade ramped up the pressure on the Champions. This result followed their Coupe de France final loss where Rennes beat them on penalties in a competition which Paris were the heavy favourites to win with ease. PSG have still been scoring well,with twelve goals scored in their last six games but the 16 conceded in that time have really knocked the confidence of the players, something that Nice will be targeting as they go in search of three points.

Nice got a crucial win last week as they thrashed Guingamp 3-0. The last time they scored twice in a match was January and the last time they scored thrice was October. Nice’s style of play definitely puts more focus on the defensive side of the game so it was great to see them finally break out of that mould and put a few past an opponent. It was their fourth clean sheet in their last five games and the three points have now put them in with a great chance of finishing 6th, as they are in touching distance of Marseille. This result was much-needed as they were very poor in their 1-0 loss to 18th placed Caen the week before, Patrick Vieira will be hoping to continue this form between now and the end of the season although the attack definitely needs some improvement. Ever since Mario Balotelli left in January they have lacked a quality striker up front, with a variety of youth players filling the spot but to no avail. Youcef Atal took it upon himself to get some goals last week though as the Algerian, who has played right-back for most of the campaign, scored a hat trick in just his second game of the season playing on the left wing. Atal has been a spectacular signing this season in defence but he would be all the more worth it if he could continue scoring.
