Over the last five seasons, Nantes have been on a decline and seems it will get worse this time, with the team struggling to get out of the relegation region. They will have a tough away league fixture at reigning champions PSG in the 29th round of matches. Heading to this game, hosts PSG are placed second in the standings, with 60 points while Nantes have 24 points, in 19th place. PSG are coming from a 1-1 draw with Barcelona in the Champions League and had earlier registered three straight wins. They trail the league leaders, Lille, by two points and have three clean sheets in the last four matches. The champions have failed to score in just one of their last 17 matches – the 2-0 loss to Monaco, which is one of their two losses in the last 25 matches. In Ligue 1, PSG have eight wins in the last 10 matches and in seven of those they’ve kept clean sheets. This will be their first Ligue 1 game at home since losing to Monaco on 21st February and the champions will be gunning for three points. Angel di Maria is back from injury but the game comes a bit too soon for Neymar, who has been out since February 10th. Moise Kean is also out on Covid-19 related issues.

In the last four Ligue 1 seasons, Nantes have finished 7th,9th, 12th, and 13th. The decline has been constant and this season they find themselves battling for survival. At the moment Les Canaris are three points below the safety line and having to face Rennes after this game means things could get worse in the near future. They’ve also managed just one win in their last 19 league matches, but failed to score in two of 10 league matches.
