French champions PSG are set for their first home game of the season when they welcome Montpellier for a Friday Ligue 1 game. The two sides had contrasting starts to the season and are separated by two points. Here’s the preview and our prediction for the match.

The hosts overcame shaky periods to beat Le Havre 4-1 in their opening game. It was headed to a 1-1 draw until Les Parisiens scored three goals in the final six minutes.

As attention shifts to Montpellier, PSG will be keen on extending their good run against their visitors. They have six straight wins in this fixture. The last time they met, PSG won 6-2 for their 11th undefeated outing against Montpellier.

This dominance, PSG will expect, ends their recent struggles at home, having won once in six matches.

Montpellier will be looking to add to their only win in 16 meetings with PSG. The last time they won this fixture was in 2019. They’ve been at the end of heavy beatings, including conceding nine goals against PSG last season.

La Paillade opened their campaign with a 1-1 draw at home to Strasbourg. The visitors had to come from behind at home with Teji Savanier scoring their equalizer from the penalty spot. As they look to improve on that, Montpellier will also know there’s a possibility they could drop lower in the standings.
