PSG vs Monaco Prediction & Betting Tips - Trophée des Champions
by Daniel Ngulu | in Football Predictions
Monaco finished the season stronger than PSG and though they head to this game winless in three, they will be hoping for a better start to the new campaign with a win here. They have played six preseason matches, three more than PSG who also have a new coach in Thomas Tuchel. PSG managed a win in their final preseason game, beating Atletico Madrid after their humiliation by Arsenal and this is the form they will want to carry to the game against Monaco, who are smarting from a 3 – 1 beating at the hands of Hamburg. PSG have managed four wins in their last 10 matches and they have scored in nine of the 10 matches, keeping just two clean sheets. They have been the dominant team in the Trophee des Champions, bagging it in the last five years, and their most recent came via a 2 – 1 win over Monaco, last year. They have scored at least twice in each of the last five TDC games and go to this clash on a seven game unbeaten run against Monaco, which entails six straight wins. They will be hoping to improve on their run of one win, a draw and three losses. Monaco have done slightly better in their last five matches, though are winless in the last three. They have two losses, a draw and two wins in the last five games and in their previous 10 matches, Monaco have managed five wins with four clean sheets in the process. They have conceded in each of their last four matches but have scored in their last nine games. Head to head, the two sides have met 51 times and PSG have managed 17 wins, Monaco 19. The last time the two sides met, PSG sunk seven past Monaco in a 7 – 1 win.

Our PSG vs Monaco Prediction
With a new manager, PSG are expected to struggle a bit as Tuchel instills his philosophy, and especially with a number of star players unavailable after the 2018 World Cup. Monaco on the other hand, have the comfort of playing under a man they know too well already, but they will also miss a number of players who took part in the World Cup. This is the second straight TDC meeting between the two sides and the second TDC game for Monaco after losing the first to PSG and it is expected they will offer a bigger opposition than in the 7 – 1 beating in the last meeting between the sides. Both sides have had a good goal scoring run heading to the game so we can expect goals from either side but with a busier preseason, no changes in management and an urge to stop the bad run against PSG, Monaco stands a good chance here. A 2 – 1 win for Monaco sounds possible in this clash.
