Preston North End have the unenviable task of taking on Manchester City in the third round of the Carabao Cup. It won't be against their strongest line-up but City have the strongest squad in the land. They beat Watford 8-0 at the weekend and neither Gabriel Jesus or Raheem Sterling even got on the pitch. Playing weakened line-ups in this competition hasn't exactly made life difficult for City. They have won this competition for the past two seasons with four wins in the past six. Only two of their last 20 games in the Carabao Cup have been lost.

City are second in the Premier League, that's compared to their opponents who are third in the Championship, only a point behind the league leaders. Preston have only made it to the fourth round of this competition once since the 2004/05 season. They had to go to a penalty shoot-out in the last round after a 2-2 home draw with Hull City. Preston went 2-0 up in that match before conceding a 95th minute equalizer. They haven't lost at home this season but that will change here, go for City to get the win and be ahead at half and full time.
