The weekend was a big one for Preston as they won their first home points of the season. The win took them to 12th in the Championship and they now host 14th placed Blackburn Rovers. Preston had earned 16 points from 11 games before Saturday's home game against Sheffield Wednesday. However, all those points had been won on the road and Preston had lost each of their first five home league fixtures and just one of the last 11. Finally, their poor run ended with the win on Saturday thanks to a goal three minutes into the second half. Their opponents did play the last 73 minutes of the game with only ten men. Preston have now won two of their last three league games and although 12th, are only six points behind the final promotion play-off position. Eight of the last nine Preston home league games have had under 2.5 goals scored in them. Preston have only managed to score more than one goal in a home Championship match once in their last 11 games.
Blackburn Rovers are two places below their opponents but only a point behind them. Rovers are unbeaten in their last three league games but two have ended in draws. Saturday saw them come from behind to draw at Luton Town. Before that, they had defeated QPR 3-1 at home, the last two goals both being scored by Adam Armstrong. Away form for Rovers has produced two wins, a draw and three losses. Only one of their last four away league matches has been won, a 4-0 win at struggling Coventry City. Both of their last two away matches have had under 2.5 goals scored in them. A bet on that stat coming up in this game is the suggested wager.
