Portugal vs Nigeria Prediction & Betting Tips - International Friendlies
by Daniel Ngulu in Football Predictions
The biggest news as Portugal and Nigeria face off in an international friendly will be the absence of Nigeria forward Victor Osimhen. There will also be a lot of focus on Cristiano Ronaldo after his interview over the weekend that threw shade at his club, Manchester United. This game, hosted in Lisbon, will be Portugal’s only friendly match ahead of the 2022 World Cup, where they play in Group H. They go into this match on the back of a dismal finish in the UEFA Nations League, failing to advance to the semi finals. The former European champions come into this game having kept three clean sheets in the last five matches and scored two or more goals in those three games, which they won. The Portuguese will be bidding for a fine wrap to their preparations going to the World Cup and a good home run will provide just the right recipe for that. They have seven wins in 10 home games, though their last ended in a 1-0 loss to Spain.
Nigeria haven’t done so well in their recent matches, and it was expected, with the managerial transition at the team. They come into this game on the back of two straight defeats, against Algeria and Costa Rica in friendly matches. Their last win was a big one, but against quite a weak team – Sao Tome. They thrashed the minnows 10-0 in a one-sided away game in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers. Victor Osimhen scored four on that occasion. Nigeria have managed just three wins in their last 10 matches across all competitions – against Guinea Bissau, Sierra Leone and Sao Tome. They have four losses in their last five away matches and only managed one clean sheet in five away games. These two nations have never met at the senior level, this will be the first meeting.

Our Portugal vs Nigeria Prediction
Nigeria have a poor run going into this game but will be under less pressure after failing to qualify for the 2022 World Cup. On the other hand, Portugal will employ a more cautious approach, but still they have a number of top players who will direct the tempo of this game. This is the first ever meeting of these two nations at the senior level and we are backing Portugal to win.
