Portugal start this game in second place in Group B three points behind Switzerland who beat them in their opening game. Since that 2-0 loss, the European champions have won their next five fixtures by an aggregate score of 22-1. Three home games have been won 3-0, 6-0 and 4-1 but could still end up having to go into the play-offs. They are also fifth in the list of best second placed teams so might miss out on automatic qualification via that route. Portugal play Switzerland on October 10 and a win in that final qualifier might just win them the group as they have a far  better goal difference than the Swiss. They need to keep winning though and the Faroe Islands have been showing signs of improvement and start this game in fifth place in the group with five points, not bad considering they have only scored twice in six matches. At home they lost 6-0 to Portugal but won in Lativa and lost 2-0 away to Switzerland just as the Portuguese did. Portugal can get the win but the Faroe Islands have been getting some decent away results, go for them with a four goal start.
