Porto’s title defence in the Primeira Liga didn’t start in the best fashion and in their next game, they will be up against an in-form Sporting Braga. Hosting this game, Porto are third with 16 points, three behind second placed Braga. Porto lost just one game the whole of last season in the league; they’ve already lost once in seven matches this season, giving the impression things aren’t so good. In their last four matches alone, Porto have suffered two losses, both in the Champions League, and the manner in which they lost will be the major concern. They were thrashed 4-0 at home by Club Brugge, having earlier lost 2-1 at Atletico Madrid. Ahead of this game they are winless in two matches and have just two wins and two clean sheets in the last five matches.

Braga are one of the remaining two unbeaten sides; they are the best scoring side so far in the league and are solid defensively. Coming into this game, they have a nine-game unbeaten run and they’ve won each of their last five matches. In their last five games they have clean sheets in four. Three times in their last five matches, they have scored two or more goals. In their opening game of the season, they drew 3-3 with Sporting Lisbon and facing another giant, they’ll be keen to do better. With four straight wins away from home, Braga will feel ready for this. They have two wins in the last three meetings with Porto and will be eyeing top spot, with three points in this game, if Benfica drops points.
