FC Porto have opened up a six-point gap at the top of the Primeira Liga and will be looking to further extend it when they play host to Maritimo on Sunday. Looking to dethrone Sporting Lisbon, Porto have so far managed 53 points, at the top of the table, while Maritimo are ninth with 24 points. Porto head to this game with nine straight wins across all competitions. Though they haven’t managed a clean sheet in their last five matches, Porto have scored three or more goals in each of their last seven matches. Mehdi Taremi and Luis Diaz have been in superb form for Porto this season, and going into this game, they’ve scored a combined 25 goals. They will however be without Mateus Uribe for this game, after he was sent off late in their last game, a 3-1 win over Famalicao. At home in the league, Porto have 15 straight wins and are unbeaten in their last 24.

Maritimo have also enjoyed good results in their recent matches, just not as much as FC Porto. They are unbeaten in their last four matches, with three wins there. Their last game ended in a 1-1 draw with Belenenses and they are just one of two teams that have denied Porto a win in the league this season. The two sides drew 1-1 back in August. Maritimo haven’t always been easy opponents; in their last three meetings with the Portuguese giants, they’ve collected four points. They will be eying the same here but it won’t be easy for a side that recently got thrashed 7-1 by Benfica, having also earlier lost to relegation-threatened Tondela. A recent win away to Sporting Braga will however give them hope that this can be done. Maritimo have two wins in their last two away matches, but that is all they’ve managed in their last 10 away games across all competitions. They’ve lost five of those 10 matches and managed just two clean sheets in the process.
