The stage is set for what should be an explosive fight at the summit of the Portuguese league. Historic rivals Porto and Benfica are ready to battle it out at the Dragao, with the two adversaries separated by a mere three points in the top of the standings. It looks like the international break has done wonders for Porto. After stumbling prior to the end of September, the Dragons emerged from the pause revitalised. Their results? Five wins from five and a tally of seventeen goals scored and just one conceded. Porto are raring to go in this battle for the top and they should be aided by their recent record against Benfica, which has seen them triumph in four of their last five home meetings against them. 

Benfica might still hold on to their impressive unbeaten strike of eighteen games on the spin, yet as their cup tie against Caldas revealed, there are problems continuing to form under Roger Schmidt’s side. Most evidently, Benfica have drawn four of their last five fixtures, albeit two of those were against French giants PSG. Most importantly however, goals seem to have dried up and that could be an issue for the remainder of the month, which contains crucial European and league battles. Benfica have scored less than two goals in four of their last five fixtures, while they have conceded in three of their last four outings. The visitors might have not lost yet this season, but their performances have been problematic at times, while they have conceded defeats in four of their last five meetings at the Da Luz.
