Ponderradina host Burgos for LaLiga2’s gameweek number eighteen. The two teams are currently situated on opposite ends of the table, with Ponferradina just a point clear of the relegation zone. The hosts have had quite an inauspicious start to the season, and are now on a four game winless streak, with the weekend 1-0 defeat to Malaga, who is in an equally precarious position, cutting especially deep. Ponferradina have also had the joint worst defence of the second division, with twenty five goals conceded in seventeen games. To make things worse, they have not been efficient on home turf, winning just one of their last seven games at the El Toralin. Ponferradina can at least boast a strong home record against Burgos, whom they have beaten in each of their last four home meetings. 

Burgos, the undisputed defensive kings of Spain so far, have taken the second division by storm, currently occupying third place and being level on point with second-placed Las Palmas. The visitors have had an astounding record at the back with just six goals conceded in the space of seventeen match weeks. What is more, they went without conceding for their first eight weeks of the season, at one stage recording six goalless draws in seven games. Besides solid at the back, Burgos have also been clinical when it mattered, especially on the road. They have won four of their last five away games, having conceded just four times in eight outings. The only downside has been their extremely profligate record when playing away, having scored just twice in those eight games.
