Poland vs Slovakia Prediction & Betting Tips - Euro
by Nella Wagah | in Euro Predictions
Group E of Euro 2020 is among the tough pools at the tournament, with Spain, Poland, Sweden and Slovakia banded together. Poland will be taking on Slovakia in their first game of the competition, in St. Petersburg. This Monday meeting will be the first time the two nations meet at a major competition. While Poland are looking to go past the quarters for the first time in their Euro finals history, they will be rocked with news that Arkadiusz Milik is set to miss the competition with a knee injury. With just one win in their last seven matches, this is not the news the Poles wanted at this point in time and they have just one clean sheet in the last seven matches. In five of those seven matches, they have conceded two or more goals though they’ve failed to score in just one. They don’t have a very strong record at the Euros; in 11 matches, Poland have managed just two wins in regular time. Also, none of their 11 matches at European championship finals has ever produced more than two goals.
Slovakia, just like Poland, drew in both their warm up matches ahead of this competition. Meanwhile, they have just one win in their last six matches and their unimpressive results have in some quarters been attributed to an aging squad. Skipper Marek Hamsik’s best days are behind him, the former Napoli midfielder being 34 as he heads to the competition. He is just one of the many players in the team above 30 and they will struggle against this Poland side. In their last three matches away from home, Slovakia have failed to score, though keeping clean sheets in the last two. They have just two goals to show in their last five away matches. This is the second time they take part in the European Championship; the first was in 2016 in France and they failed to get off their group after losses to Wales and Germany, though they did beat Russia.

Our Poland vs Slovakia Prediction
Poland are favorites here but do not have a very strong run going to the competition. They haven’t won a lot of matches, but the quality of their players should be good enough to guide the team to a good start. Slovakia haven’t also been doing well and we don’t expect much to change, especially with their scoring record away from home. Poland, the favorites here, haven’t been scoring a lot and looking at Slovakia’s scoring record too, go for under 2.5 goals here.
