Poland vs Iceland Prediction & Betting Tips - International Friendlies
by Nella Wagah | in Football Predictions
Poland haven’t been in top form in their recent matches; they are coming from a 1-1 draw with Russia in a friendly match. They go to their final training game against Iceland before heading to Euro 2020. At the competition, they are in a tricky group, with Slovakia, Spain and Sweden, so good preparations are key. Against Russia, Poland’s top stars were rested including Robert Lewandowski but it is expected they will start in the Iceland clash. One thing Poland will have to put an effort on is the few clean sheets they keep; in the last six matches, they have one clean sheet only – the 3-0 win over Andorra. Four of their last five matches have produced over 2.5 goals and they have conceded two or more in three of them. In their last 12 matches at home, Poland have done well, losing just once – to Netherlands – and they have three clean sheets in the last five. They’ve never lost to Iceland in the six meetings between them; Poland have won five with one ending in a draw.
Iceland were one of the surprise teams at Euro 2016 but they won’t be part of Euro 2020. They are preparing for the World Cup qualifiers in September and go to this game from a 1-0 away win over Faroe Islands in a Friday friendly match. That was just their second win in the last 10 matches; they’ve lost the other eight, and failed to score in two of the last five. Their only wins in the last 10 matches have been against Faroe Islands and Liechtenstein and they have managed just one clean sheet in the last 13 matches. Iceland have conceded two goals or more in eight of their last 10 and have scored more than one goal in just one of the 10.

Our Poland vs Iceland Prediction
Iceland are a pale shadow of the team that graced the Euro 2016 finals in France and also qualified for the 2018 World Cup. Their only wins in the last 10 matches have been against very weak nations and they’ll be really stretched when they face Poland in Poznan. Poland haven’t done so well lately but with their top stars set to start, and facing an off-color Iceland, the Poles will be favorites. Poland should do their business early enough with a raft of changes expected at half time to rest players ahead of the Euros. Go for Poland to lead at half time.
