Plymouth vs Watford Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship
by Joseph King | in Championship Predictions
Matchday 26 in the English Championship sees 18th-place Plymouth playing host to 10th-placed Watford. A 2-1 away loss to Southampton put an end to a four match unbeaten run for Plymouth, albeit three of those matches resulted in stalemates. The Pilgrims have now managed only a single win in their last six Championship fixtures with their 28 points total putting them seven points above the relegation zone. They also have to deal with a new management hunt after Steven Schumacher departed for Stoke City just over one week ago. Neil Dewsnip has taken over in the interim and has led the team to just two points in three matches. Plymouth will return to Home Park for this matchup where they have been excellent on the year. Despite having yet to win a match on the road, Plymouth’s home form is keeping their heads above water as they’ve posted an impressive 7-2-3 record.
Watford saw the momentum gained from back-to-back away victories come to a screeching halt following the Christmas holidays. A heavy 4-1 home defeat to Bristol on Boxing Day was followed up by a 1-1 home draw against Stoke City on Friday. The string of results has the Hornets sitting 10th in the standings on 35 points, four behind Hull City for a spot in the top six promotion playoff spots. Watford will now take to the road once again where they have experienced a dramatic turn in form. Valerien Ismael’s squad has won their last three consecutive away matches and is an impressive 4-1-1 over the last six on the road. The purple patch has dragged Watford’s away record to a respectable 4-3-4 on the season after previously struggling to get results as the visiting team.

Our Plymouth vs Watford Prediction
Despite Watford’s uptick in away form, it’s difficult to go against Plymouth when they are playing as the home side. This is especially true when they come into the match as the home underdogs, as they do in this situation. Plymouth are simply a different beast at Home Park. They’ve scored three times the amount of goals at home than on the road and have earned 23 of their 28 total points at this venue. Back the hosts to get a result here. Our Plymouth vs Watford prediction is for Plymouth on the double chance.
