League leaders Bendel Insurance will on Sunday aim to keep their unbeaten start to the season intact when they travel to Plateau United in the Nigerian Professional Football League. Bendel couldn’t have wished for a better start to the campaign; they sit top with 25 points while Plateau are eight points behind in fifth place. Plateau have had a rocky start to the year as they have managed to win back-to-back matches just once. They come into this match after suffering their fourth defeat of the campaign in midweek where they went down 3-2 away to Shooting Stars. The loss was their second in the last three matches after they had also lost 3-2 against Gombe United a week prior. Plateau’s struggles have been precipitated by their defensive frailties which has seen them concede 15 goals, the worst tally of all the teams in the top six. They have however been the league’s best offensive team with 21 goals and this should worry any team they come across.

Bendel Insurance are the only team this season yet to taste defeat and this has largely been due to their rigidity at the back. No team has kept more clean sheets than the seven Bendel have registered in Group A. They have also conceded the least number of goals (5) across both league groups. It will be interesting to see what will give on Sunday as they come up against the most potent team in the league and one they have already drawn first blood against this season.
