Bulgarian side Ludogorets host the Montenegrin outfit Sutjeska, in a match up for the first round of the UEFA Champions League qualification phase. The team from Razgrad are undoubtedly favourites coming into this one. Finishing the league as Bulgarian champions with a vast twenty one point difference ahead of rivals CSKA Sofia, they will have high hopes for this season’s European campaign. They looked in fine shape in the preparation friendlies that they played as well, winning three and losing just once against sides such as Furth, Ferencvaros and Nurnberg. With regards to their home form, they are a formidable team at the Huvepharma Arena, where they have thirteen wins and just one loss in their last fifteen games. They managed to score three or more goals in an impressive eight of the aforementioned games.

The Bulgarian champions will meet another national champion in the face of Sutjeska. The away side finished first eight points off second placed Buducnost yet failed to finish the season strongly. After exiting the cup at the semi-finals they recorded three defeats and a draw in their last four league games, conceding ten goals and ending the season on a low note. Their performances in the three friendly games they played so far were mixed, losing against Subotica and Mladost but winning convincingly in their friendly game against Radnik (all Serbian teams).  When it comes to their away form, Sutjeska finished the season as the best away team in the league as well as best away defence, conceding a mere fourteen goals in their eighteen away games. However, Ludogorets is a huge step up in quality, and Sutjeska lost their most recent “tough” away game, conceding four goals against Buducnost.
