Ludogorets will get their UEFA Europa Conference League underway in the knockout stages when they welcome Anderlecht to the Ludogorets Arena on Thursday evening. The hosts bowed out of the Europa League on the final day of the group stage matches when they lost 3-1 to Roma, who went on to qualify in the second spot in Group C.  Since then, the hosts have been in very good form in domestic competitions, losing just one of 12 games following their exit from the Europa League. They currently sit in second spot in the Bulgarian First League with 46 points in 19 matches, just one point behind CSKA Sofia at the top of the league and seven clear of CSKA 1948 in third. Ludogorets comes into this match undefeated in their last five matches in all competitions and will fancy themselves to extend their strong home record in this one.

Anderlecht has been having a poor season by their own standards and currently sits in 10th place in the Belgian Pro League, with 34 points in 25 matches, eight points off the top four spots. The visitors qualified in second place in the group stages behind West Ham United and ahead of Silkeborg and FCSB, with a record of two wins, two draws, and two losses. Their form since the World Cup break has been similarly uninspiring, with two wins, two draws, and two losses in their last six matches in all competitions. However, after winning their last match 3-1 against STVV, Anderlecht finds themselves coming into this one undefeated in their last four away matches and will feel that they can take something from this match to hold onto for the second leg.
