Levski managed to finish fourth in last season’s Bulgarian Prva Liga, and are thus contesting for a spot in the next stage of the Conference league's qualification.  The team from Sofia are entering this one in splendid form. They managed to stay unbeaten in all five pre-season friendlies they gave, winning four and drawing one of those. They have also commenced their league duties, losing to CSKA Sofia but thrashing Spartak Varna 5-0 to get a confidence boost ahead of this one. PAOK Thessaloniki are entering the Conference League qualification phase by finishing second in the league.
