Parma will host AC Milan on Match Day 30 in the Italian Serie A, with the two sides putting their differing season’s ambitions to test. Second placed Milan, who have so far managed 60 points hope to close in on leaders Inter, while 19th placed Parma, on 20 points hope to rise out of the relegation region. After an impressive 2-0 win over Roma, Parma have failed to build on, with a loss to Genoa and a draw with Benevento, leaving them four points below safety with nine matches to go. They are the lowest scorers in Serie A, with 28 goals and it could get worse for them looking at the matches lined up. After Milan, they face fellow relegation battlers Cagliari then top four contenders Juventus before taking on other strugglers, Crotone and Torino. Parma can’t afford any more slip ups, at least for their next five matches. They showed a good fight to come from down twice against Benevento in the last game and should try and build on that here though one win in 20 league matches is not a run that generates much confidence. They’ve conceded twice or more in nine of their last 10 league matches but scored nine goals in their last five league games. Eight of Parma’s last 10 matches have produced over 2.5 goals. It hasn’t been very encouraging at home for the team, with just two wins in the last 15 league matches there, and the only positive emanates from having scored in each of the last four. From a possible 45 points in the 15 home league matches this season, Parma have won just 11 and it is highly doubtful that they’ll keep up with the standards in their 2-2 draw with Milan in December.

Milan are unbeaten in their last seven matches against Parma; their last loss in this fixture dates back to 2014. They came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Parma in December and in their hosts’ shape this time, such a result would be a big shock. Milan are the lowest scorers in the top five and are coming from a 1-1 draw with Sampdoria, in which they needed a late Jens Hauge leveler to earn a point. That result left them with only two clean sheets in their last 11 Serie A matches but they’ve scored two or more in five of their last 10 league matches. Milan have been very solid away in Serie A and head here with three straight wins. In the 14 away league matches this season, Milan have only lost once, to Spezia in February – the 2-0 loss was the only time they’ve failed to score away in the league this season. Milan are the best performing away team with a winning rate of 86% and have amassed 37 points from a possible 42 in away matches.
