Top spot is up for grabs in Group C of the Copa Libertadores when Palmeiras entertain Bolivar on Friday. Bolivar top the group ahead of second-placed Palmeiras but only on goal difference. The last time Palmeiras hosted Bolivar, they ran out 5-0 winners. This was in the group stages of the Copa Libertadores back in 2020. They will hope for the same outcome to not only top the group but end their current slump. Abel Ferreira’s charges have lost their last two matches, both in the league, which has left them eight points off the pace. Last time out, they lost 1-0 to league leaders Botafogo at home. Bolivar come to this match in fine form. They bring with them a five-match unbeaten record with four of those games ending in victory. The Bolivian side has conceded just once in this run and in their last match, beat Real Santa Cruz 3-0. This was in the Bolivian Primera Division where they are six points behind top spot. After beating Palmeiras to begin their Copa Libertadores campaign, Benat San Jose’s charges lost 2-1 away to Colombia’s Barcelona next. They bounced back from this and have now won three in a row in the group. The Celeste have always struggled away from home in the Copa and have won only three times in their last 10 fixtures. They however won their last away match by beating Paraguay’s Cerro Porteno 4-0.
