Palmeiras will look to continue their hunt for the top spot in the Brazilian Serie A when they take on relegation-threatened Atletico GO. This round-of-16 match will be played at the Allianz Parque in Sao Paulo on Friday, early in the morning UK time and our prediction is for an entertaining fixture.

The hosts are third in the standings ahead of this round with 30 points, while the visitors are 19th with 11 points. Palmeiras are just a point off the top of the table, while Atletico Go are three points off 16th, which is the last safety spot. Palmeiras are coming off a 2-0 win over Bahia, which kept them within striking distance of the leadership spot. That made it a seventh win from the last nine league games, with only one loss in that sequence. This run of form has improved the fortunes for Verdão, who looked in disarray when they started with just two wins from the first six rounds of the season.

What works in their favor is that Palmeiras have won their last five home league games in a row. That could be unsettling for Atletico, who are locked in the relegation zone.
