Oxford United vs Sheffield Wednesday Prediction & Betting Tips - League One
by Steve Ashfield in League One Predictions
Three points are vital for both clubs but for very different reasons. 20th placed Oxford United host current League One leaders Sheffield Wednesday. The away side only top the league on goal difference from Plymouth. With the second placed side away at relegation threatened Morecambe earlier in the day, it's more than likely Wednesday will start this match in second place. It could be worse because a home win for Ipswich at home to Wycombe will take them above Wednesday. The Yorkshire club are not in promotion winning form at present. The last five league games have only produced three points, all from draws. They had been on a long unbeaten run before this dip in form and they need to get back into winning ways. Their two recent losses both came on the road with defeats at Barnsley (not too surprising) and bottom-of-the-table Forest Green (definitely a shock). They have won ten away league matches this season and only conceded 16 goals.
Oxford United are currently one place and three points above the relegation zone. Accrington Stanley play earlier on Good Friday and a win over Port Vale will see them go level on points with Oxford. Their goal difference is far worse than that of Oxford's so United wouldn't drop into the bottom four. Their current form is not good though with no wins in their last 12 league games. A form guide for the last ten league matches has them bottom with just three points. They have drawn their last couple of games in League One and that ended a run of five straight defeats. Home form is a massive struggle at present with five consecutive league defeats and 13 goals conceded. Back Sheffield Wednesday to get a vital win here.
